The new Bohol Panglao International Airport which is due for completion by next month received an additional budget of P1 billion in order to meet the expected volume of tourists coming in Bohol.
The forecast is for Bohol to have 3.4 milion arrivals in 2030 or 12 years from now.
The proposed additional works will be done even if the airport is already used because the future improvement construction cannot disrupt the airport operation.
These are the cargo terminal, fuel depot and hydrant system, 300-meter runway extension, and parallel taxiway.
The additional works are to prepare the airport, in terms of capacity and facility, to accommodate the anticipated increasing air traffic demand.
The approved budget is part of the P1.37 billion Bohol projects approved by the Regional Development Council (RDC) for inclusion in Central Visayas investments for national funding during its full-body meeting last Friday.
